Tooth-coloured-Fillings

Procedure

Initially, the extent of decay is evaluated by means of dental x-ray or other decay detecting aids. Local anesthesia may be administered in case of sensitivity and the decay is removed using specialized drilling instruments.

A proper shape is prepared for placement of the filling and it depends on the type of material to be utilized. The material is then placed in the area to be filled.

There are two types of tooth colored filling materials which are widely used, namely, Glass Ionomer cement (GIC) and Composites.

The technique for each differs. In case of composites, a special light may be used after placement of the material a few times, for it to harden.

The patient may experience sensitivity for some time after the filling is done. If it persists for a long time, it is essential to revert to the dentist, which can easily managed.

Procedure

One hour tooth whitening is a cosmetic procedure for whitening the existing teeth color. It involves the use of special materials and equipments like a light and peroxides in the form of a gel.

The procedure involves use of gingival barriers to protect your gums from the bleaching agent, followed by application of the peroxide gel onto the indicated tooth surfaces for the recommended time intervals. It is activated using a special light to accelerate and enhance the whitening process. Then the shades are re-evaluated and depending on the state of the existing teeth and the shade you want to achieve, it may need to be repeated. The power whitening session takes 60 – 90 minutes and use of a followup kit for 1-2 weeks for an hour daily could be employed for best results.

This procedure is not indicated for pregnant/ breastfeeding females or patients with worn out teeth. Side-effects are mild sensitivity which may last for a few days but can be easily managed using desensitizing toothpastes.

Tooth Jewelry

Indications

  • Aesthetic Purposes
Tooth-Jewellery

Procedure

Tooth jewellery is available  in a jewellery box containing sparkling stones of various sizes and colours to enhance the patients smile. The patient in consultation with the dentist selects the jewellery to be placed and the tooth to be used depending on the patients smile.

The tooth in which the jewellery is to be placed is cleaned and dried thoroughly.

The tooth surface is roughened by means of an acid solution, which helps in bonding of the jewellery to the tooth surface.

A bonding liquid is applied to this followed by placement of the jewellery in desired fashion. A clear, bright light is then focussed on the tooth which hardens the liquid and sets the jewellery in place.

It is not harmful and can be removed as and when the patient wishes.

There are various types of tooth jewellery available and can be commonly and successfully used to enhance the smile by an experienced clinician.
